Electronic Tax Invoicing System to Include 2.8K Companies by End of Third Phase

Finance Minister Mohamed Maait yesterday said at a press conference that 2,800 companies will be registered in the new electronic tax invoicing system by the completion of its third phase in mid-May 2021.

The first phase of the electronic tax-invoicing system was launched for 134 companies on Sunday, and the second phase, set to cover 350 companies, is scheduled for mid-February.

Deputy Minister of Finance for Public Treasury Affairs Ehab Abou Aish said at the conference that digitalizing the ten million tax invoices submitted to the finance ministry each month would boost efficiency.

The government has been pushing for digital transformation across all sectors, and is working on legislation to digitalize processes in banking, customs, taxes and public services.
